A video clip of PM Modi with the CM of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, is being shared on social media, with a claim that the PM allegedly pushed Eknath Shinde because he was in the frame for a picture. The post’s description reads, ‘It doesn’t matter if you are head of a state. You’ll be pushed back if you come in his frame.’ Let’s fact-check this video through this article.

Claim: PM Modi pushes Eknath Shinde to get a photo without him.

Fact: These visuals of PM Modi and Eknath Shinde were captured during the flagging-off ceremony of the Vande Bharath Express that connects Nagpur and Bilaspur. The full video is available on PM Modi’s Youtube channel. After the train left the platform, the PM could be seen patting the back of Eknath Shinde and shaking his hand after the Maharashtra CM took a backstep. Even though the viral video has the same visuals, it is being shared with a misleading narrative that the PM was pushing Eknath Shinde. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

We searched the internet with relevant keywords and were led to a video news report by ‘Times Now’ (also read). With this hint, we further refined our search and found a YouTube video of the event’s stream on PM Modi’s Youtube channel.

In the full-length video at 4:28 sec, Eknath Shinde can be seen moving back, after which PM looks at him, pats his back, and shakes hand with him. The same visuals are also present in the viral video. However, the PM’s actions are being misquoted as him pushing the Maharashtra CM for intruding on his photo frame.

To sum up, the posted video does not show PM Modi pushing Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde.
