A video showing the words “I Love Muhmad” spray-painted on the walls of a temple is circulating widely on social media (here, here, and here). In the footage, the person filming asserts that the visuals are from a lord Shiva temple in Bulak Garhi village, Uttar Pradesh. The clip is being shared with claims that people from the Muslim community desecrated the temple. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows a lord Shiva temple in Bulak Garhi, Uttar Pradesh, desecrated by Muslims by spray-painting “I Love Muhammad” on its walls.
Fact: The accused who desecrated the temple walls by spray-painting “I Love Muhammad” in Bulak Garhi, Uttar Pradesh, are not Muslims. According to the Aligarh Police, four Hindu youths — Zeeshanth Singh, Akash Saraswat, Dilip Sharma, and Abhishek Saraswat — were arrested for the act, while another accused, Rahul, is absconding. Police found that the group had personal disputes with two Muslim men, Mustakeem and Gul Mohammed, and attempted to frame them by creating religious graffiti. The Lodha Police also clarified to Factly that all the accused belong to the Hindu community and that there is no communal angle to the case. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
A Google search using relevant keywords led us to an X post by the Aligarh Police dated 25 October 2025, regarding this incident. In the post, the Senior Superintendent of Police stated that four temples in two neighbouring villages — Bulak Garhi and Bhagwanpur — had been desecrated. He added that all angles were being investigated, including a previous dispute reported from the area. The post further mentioned that religious slogans had been removed, discussions were held with villagers, a case was being registered, and strict action would be taken against those involved. The police also clarified that peace currently prevails at the location.
We also found multiple media reports (here, here, and here) on the incident. According to these reports, in a press conference held on 30 October 2025, SSP Neeraj Jadon revealed that four Hindu youths — Zeeshanth Singh, Akash Saraswat, Dilip Sharma, and Abhishek Saraswat — were arrested in connection with the case, while another man named Rahul was absconding. The police examined CCTV footage and call detail records, and noted spelling errors in the graffiti. On reviewing previous complaints, they found that Zeeshanth had a feud with a man named Mustakeem, while Rahul had a dispute with Gul Mohammed. To frame their rivals, the accused spray-painted the graffiti on the temple walls. “They thought that by making such religious graffiti, the police would promptly investigate and arrest their opposing parties,” SSP Jadon said.
To check if any communal angle was involved, Factly contacted the Lodha Police Station. Police officer Vinod confirmed that the case has been registered as FIR No. 303/2025. He also stated that all the accused are Hindu men and mentioned the same names reported by the media. However, due to the sensitivity of the matter and the ongoing investigation, the FIR is currently unavailable on the Uttar Pradesh Police website. We then checked the Aligarh court website for additional details and found that one of the accused, Akash Saraswat, had filed a bail petition on 04 November 2025, which is scheduled to be heard on 06 November 2025.

To sum up, the accused who desecrated the temple walls by spray-painting “I Love Muhammad” in Bulak Garhi, U.P., are not Muslims.
