Claim: A big crocodile spotted in Himayatsagar lake during the ongoing heavy rains in Hyderabad.

Fact: Similar video is uploaded on YouTube on 08 February 2018. The video is an old one with no connection to the current Hyderabad rains. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

Reverse image search of the screenshots of the video in the post led us to a YouTube video which carried similar visuals. This particular video was uploaded on YouTube on 08 February 2018 and the description of the video reads “Crocodile swimming in Ganga at Farraka”.

We found other similar Youtube videos with the same claim that the crocodile is spotted at farraka barrage. However, we did not find any credible source confirming that the crocodile is actually spotted in Ganga at Farraka barrage. However, it can be safely concluded that the video is at least 2 years old and has nothing to do with the current rains & floods in Hyderabad.

In the wake of the incessant rains in Hyderabad, videos and posts like the ones in the post are being widely circulating on social media platforms with misleading claims.

To sum it up, the video in the post is doing rounds on the internet since 2018 and has nothing to do with the recent heavy rains in Hyderabad.
