Old video from Ganesh immersion procession in Chitradurga portrayed as Hindu outfits protest against Harsha’s murder

A video is being shared on social media claiming it as visuals of thousands of pro-Hindu outfits protesting in Chitradurga condemning the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of pro-Hindu outfits protest in Chitradurga condemning the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows the Hindu Mahasabha Ganesh Visarjan procession held in Chitradurga, in October 2021. The video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the Bajrang Dal activist Harsha’s murder. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.  

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, videos with similar visuals were found posted by several social media users in October 2021. They can be seen here, here, and here. These social media users mentioned it as the visuals of the Hindu Mahasabha Ganesh Visarjan procession in Chitradurga.

The ‘Hindu Maha Ganapathi, Chitradurga’ Facebook page shared the same video and photos showing similar visuals on 02 October 2021. Several news websites have published articles reporting the 2021 Ganesh Visarjan celebrations in Chitradurga. They can be seen here and here.

Following the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha in Shivamogga, pro-Hindu outfits are staging protests in different parts of Karnataka demanding capital punishment for the accused involved in Harsha’s murder. But the video shared in the post is old and not related to Harsha’s murder.

To sum it up, an old video of Ganesh Visarjan procession in Chitradurga falsely portrayed as a pro-Hindu activists’ protest against Harsha’s murder.
