On 29 June 2025, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhim Army chief and MP from Nagina, was detained and placed under house arrest (here, here, and here) while attempting to visit Isota village in Karchhana tehsil to meet the family of Devi Shankar, who was reportedly burnt to death on 13 April 2025. Azad’s detention sparked violence in the Karchhana area of Prayagraj, reportedly involving his supporters. As per reports, police arrested 85 people, including several accused of instigating the clash.
In this context, a video (here, here & here) showing police parading a group of men with shaved heads is being widely shared on social media, with the claim that it shows Uttar Pradesh police parading Azad’s supporters involved in the violence in Prayagraj on 29 June 2025. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video shows Chandrashekhar Azad’s supporters arrested and paraded by the Uttar Pradesh Police for rioting in Prayagraj on 29 June 2025.
Fact: While the UP Police reportedly arrested supporters of Chandrasekhar Azad for vandalism in Prayagraj on 29 June 2025, the viral video is unrelated to this incident. It shows Rajasthan’s Baran police parading 12 individuals accused of planning to loot fuel stations. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
A reverse image search of the keyframes extracted from the viral video led us to an extended version of the same video, uploaded on the Instagram and Facebook pages of a digital creator based in Baran, Rajasthan, on 2 June 2025. The posts state that the Baran district police arrested 12 people for allegedly planning to loot fuel stations.

Following this lead, we found media reports (here, here, and here) and police statements (here and here) regarding the incident. According to them, on 31 May 2025, Antah police and Kishanganj police from Rajasthan’s Baran district arrested 12 people for allegedly planning to loot fuel stations under their jurisdiction. On 02 June 2025, the alleged culprits, who can be seen with shaved heads, are apologising with folded hands while being paraded.

Additionally, the Prayagraj police and the UP Police fact-check handles also clarified that the viral video is from Baran, Rajasthan, and is not related to Uttar Pradesh.
Previously, FACTLY had debunked a similar video in which an old and unrelated video from Rajasthan was falsely shared as UP police arresting Chandrashekhar Azad’s supporters for rioting in Prayagraj.
To sum it up, the viral video depicts an incident from Rajasthan and has no connection to the violence that took place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on 29 June 2025.
