India and Pakistan have been at loggerheads since the terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025. In this context, a viral video (here, here, and here) on social media claims to show a suicide bomb attack in Pakistan’s Lasbela. Users are sharing this video with a caption translated to English: ‘A suicide bomber of the Baloch Liberation Army blew up the Bela Camp in Lasbela in which 40 wounded Pakistani soldiers are reported to have been killed.’ We will fact-check this claim through this article.

An archived version of this post can be found here.

Claim: This video shows the Balochistan Liberation Army’s suicide bomb attack in Lasa Bela that killed 40 Pakistani soldiers after the Pahalgam terror attack.

Fact: The video actually shows visuals from the Israeli attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in November 2024. However, 10 Pakistani soldiers were allegedly killed in an attack carried out by the BLA on a Pakistani army convoy in Quetta on 25 April 2025. On 3 May 2025, the BLA reportedly captured the city of Mangocher in Kalat District, Balochistan.  Therefore, the claim made in the post is Misleading.

Firstly, we performed a reverse image search on a few keyframes from the viral video, leading us to the original video. This video was posted on 25 November 2024 by a news organization called ‘The Cradle’ on X. According to this report and other media reports, this video shows scenes of the Israeli attack on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, in November 2024.

To verify whether the BLA has recently carried out a suicide attack in Lasa Bela, we performed a keyword search online. This search led us to a letter released by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) on 26 August 2024.

According to the details revealed in this letter, more than 40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in an attack on the main army camp near the city of Bela in Pakistan. The Majeed Brigade of the BLA detonated two vehicles packed with explosives at the security posts at the main gate of the army camp and destroyed them. The statement said that the BLA’s Fidayeen unit had controlled a significant part of the camp for six hours.

However, according to a few news reports (here, here & here), the BLA allegedly attacked a Pakistani army convoy in Quetta on 25 April 2025, killing 10 Pakistani soldiers.

On 3 May 2025, the BLA’s Death Squad reportedly seized control of (here, here and here) the Mangocher city in Kalat District, Balochisthan. ‘The BLA’s Death Squad has taken control of government premises and made hostages of some military and government officials. This follows recent attacks by the BLA, including an IED attack that killed 10 Pakistani army personnel. The conflict has intensified in recent months, with the BLA becoming more aggressive in its operations against Pakistani forces, reported India Today.

To sum up, an unrelated old video is being shared as visuals of a recent suicide bomb attack carried out by the Balochistan Liberation Army that killed 40 Pakistani soldiers.
