A social media post shares a video of a Zee News report on the exit polls of the Rajasthan elections. The post’s description in Hindi translates to ‘big news, election exit polls.’ Let’s fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Zee News report on the results of the exit polls of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Assembly elections.

Fact: The news report in the viral video was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Zee News on 7 December 2018. The report was on the exit poll results of the Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh assembly elections that were held in 2018. None of these state assemblies went for elections this year till now. Hence the claim made in the post is False.

It is clear from the video that the news report in the viral post is of Zee News, and the programme’s subject is exit polls of the three state assembly elections, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. We took this as a hint and searched YouTube for the original video using relevant keywords, leading us to a video titled ‘Zee News Maha Exit Poll: Poll of exit polls put Congress ahead in Rajasthan’, which is a lengthier version of the viral video.

Uploaded on 7 December 2018, this news report is about the various exit poll results released after the Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections of 2018. The post falsely shares this old video as recent. Also, none of these states’ assembly elections was held recently. The last time they all went for election was in 2018 only (here and here).

According to elections.in, these three states may have their elections this year. The Election commission of India has not yet released any information about the schedule of these elections as on date, and the term of all three assemblies is till January 2024.

To sum up, old and edited Zee News report on 2018 state elections shared as recent.
