A video circulating online claims to show Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath immediately after his release from prison. He was released from the Sitapur jail on 23 September 2025 after spending nearly 23 months behind bars (here, here, and here). We fact-check this claim through this article.
Claim: The viral video shows Azam Khan meeting Yogi Adityanath after his prison release in October 2025.
Fact: These visuals dates back to December 2017, when both politicians met in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It has nothing to do with recent events. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To verify the claim, we reverse searched keyframes from the viral video and found a better-quality version of the same clip uploaded on 14 December 2017 by NMF News, as well as a 15 December 2025 Times Now news report containing this clip. According to these videos, the viral clip captures the moment Yogi and Azam met inside the UP Assembly, smiling, shaking hands, and talking.
Taking this as a hint, we conducted an internet keyword search and found several news reports (here, here, and here) from December 2017 that match the visuals and confirm this meeting occurred during the winter session of the UP Assembly, not in 2025 after the release.
Furthermore, no credible sources support the claim that Azam Khan met UP CM Yogi Adityanath after his release from prison.
To sum up, this video circulating as a recent meeting between Yogi Adityanath and Azam Khan is actually from 2017.
