Fact: Though the video is from Kolkata, the police constable shot himself dead; nobody killed him. A police constable named Choudup Lepcha opened fire indiscriminately from his rifle on 10 June 2022. Before he shot himself, his firing killed a woman and injured two others. The incident happened at Lower Range Road in Kolkata, which was 500 metres from the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission. A kilometre from the incident, hundreds of Muslims were holding protests against Nupur Sharma’s comments on Prophet Muhammed. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
When reverse image search is done on the screenshots of the video, a video report with similar visuals was found. According to the report, it was the police constable who shot himself. He fired multiple rounds, which hit a woman before he shot himself. The police constable was posted at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata.
