Following the 22 April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). Both sides reported intensified cross-border firing and armed forces operations, leading to military and civilian casualties (here, here, and here). After days of attacks from both sides, diplomatic backchannels led to a ceasefire agreement through high-level military and diplomatic talks. Donald Trump, the President of the United States, publicly weighed in on the situation. On multiple occasions (here, here), Trump spoke about the importance of a ceasefire and offered to mediate between India and Pakistan to foster peace.
In this context, a post featuring graphics of Bolta Hindustan is going viral on social media (here, here, and here), claiming that Bolta Hindustan published news item stating that Modi demanded the withdrawal of all cases and arrest warrants against Adani in exchange for a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, according to US President Trump. Let’s verify the claim made in the post through this article.

Claim: Bolta Hindustan published a news item stating Modi demanded withdrawal of all cases against Adani for a ceasefire with Pakistan as per US President Trump.
Fact: The viral post is edited. The original post only quoted US President Trump saying he warned India and Pakistan that trade would stop if the war continued. It did not mention that PM Modi demanded the withdrawal of all cases against Adani. Bolta Hindustan also clarified on 14 May 2025 that the viral post is fake and edited. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
We conducted an internet search using relevant keywords to verify the viral claim. However, we found no credible reports or any news published on the official website of Bolta Hindustan confirming that US President Trump said Modi demanded the withdrawal of all cases against Adani in exchange for a ceasefire with Pakistan.
We then performed a Google Lens search of the viral post’s screenshot, which led us to a similar post shared on Bolta Hindustan’s official Facebook handle on 12 May 2025. The post quoted US President Trump as saying, “I threatened India and Pakistan and told them that if you do not stop the war, there will be no trade.” However, the post made no mention of Modi demanding the withdrawal of all cases against Adani. We also found the same post on Bolta Hindustan’s official X handle.
