A video of Manohar Lal Khattar, the former Chief Minister of Haryana, becoming emotional has been circulating on social media with a claim that the video depicts him breaking down after resigning as MLA. In this fact-check article, we aim to verify this claim.

Claim: This video shows Haryana’s ex-CM, Manohar Lal Khattar, crying after resigning as MLA.

Fact: The video in question is from 2021 when Khattar became emotional during an assembly speech criticising Congress’s Bhupendra Singh Hooda. Therefore, the claim made in the post is False.

To verify this claim, we initiated a keyword search on the internet, which directed us to numerous articles (here, here, and here) confirming that this is an old clip from 2021. These articles reported on the same visuals presented in the viral video.

The former Chief Minister of Haryana is shown (here and here) in the footage during an assembly speech. Khattar was seen criticising Bhupendra Singh Hooda of the Congress party for his alleged ‘insensitivity’ towards female MLAs on International Women’s Day.

During the assembly’s budget session, he expressed sadness seeing female MLAs pulling a tractor for a protest while Hooda sat on it.

To sum up, the viral video showing Manohar Lal Khattar crying is from March 2021, not in response to any recent resignation from his MLA post in Karnal.
