An old video is being falsely shared as the eye of Cyclone Nisarga

0

A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the eye of Cyclone Nisarga (‘The eye is a region of mostly calm weather at the center of strong tropical cyclones’). On 03 June 2020, Cyclone Nisarga made its landfall on the coast of Maharashtra. It slammed the coast with wind speeds of up to 120 kmph. FACTLY has found that the posted video exists on the internet at least since October 2019. Some users have posted the same video on YouTube in 2019 saying the video shows scary visuals of a cyclone near Bambolim in Goa. FACTLY could not independently ascertain when and where the video was taken, but it is an old video, and hence is not related to Cyclone Nisarga.
