A video (here, here, and here) of a large bow being pulled out of the water is being shared with the claim that the bow used by Lord Sri Rama during the Ramayana period is going viral on social media. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

An archived version of this claim can be found here.

Claim: Video shows Lord Sri Rama’s bow, dating back to the Ramayana period, discovered recently under the sea.

Fact: There are no credible news reports to validate the claim that Lord Rama’s bow has recently been found in the sea. Also, the viral video was made using artificial intelligence. Hence, the claim made in the post is Fake.

To check the veracity of the viral claim, we performed a keyword search on the internet using relevant keywords. However, we did not find any credible news reports or official statements from the government or the archaeological department about the recent discovery of  Lord Rama’s bow from the Ramayana period. If such an incident had happened in India, the media would have definitely reported it, which is not the case here.

When we looked at the viral video carefully, we noticed that there were many errors/inconsistencies. The faces of the policemen in the video are blurry and not properly visible. Portions of the hands of some people disappear in some frames and reappear later. A police officer suddenly holds a piece of paper, which disappears after a few frames. Observing all this, we suspected that this video might have been created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Such errors are natural in AI-generated videos and photos.

To verify this, we used Cantilux and DeepFake-O-Meter, which are tools for detecting AI-generated videos. Their analysis reports revealed that the video was created using artificial intelligence.

Then we performed a reverse image search using a few of its keyframes to find out who uploaded the video. Through this search, we found that it was originally uploaded by an Instagram ‘Digital Creator’ named ‘mrmahadevshorts1’.

There are many videos on this page that resemble the viral video. Some of these videos have the text ‘Ai God Video’ written on them (here, here, and here). We have reached out to the Instagram page, ‘mrmahadevshorts1’, for details on how this video was created or whether it was made by them or they found it somewhere. We will update this article once we receive a response.

To sum up, an AI-generated video is being shared with a claim that Lord Rama’s weapon from the Ramayan period was recently found in the sea.
