The Bihar assembly elections are approaching, and all major political parties have kicked off their campaign in full swing. Leaders are actively holding rallies, roadshows, and public meetings across the state to connect with voters (here, here, and here).
In this context, A collage of two videos is going viral on social media (here, here, and here). One video shows RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav dancing with some boys. The other shows his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, allegedly reacting to this dance. In the viral clip, Tej Pratap is seen talking to a journalist and saying, “He dances, what will you call him if he dances? A dancer, right? So let him keep dancing. May he win the election while dancing. Best wishes to him.” The claim suggests that Tej Pratap’s comments were targeted at his brother Tejashwi Yadav. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows Tej Pratap Yadav criticising his brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and calling him a dancer.
Fact: The viral video does not show Tej Pratap Yadav criticising his brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and calling him a dancer. In the original video, Tej Pratap was responding to a question about Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, who is reportedly going to contest in the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He was not referring to Tejashwi Yadav. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
We noticed that ‘Prayas News’ was written on the mic used in the interview. Using this as a clue, we searched the internet with relevant keywords and found the extended version of the same video, which was published on the YouTube channel of Prayas News on 23 July 2025.
On reviewing the original video, we found that at the 09 minutes 15 seconds mark, the journalist asks Tej Pratap Yadav about Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, who had earlier announced that he would contest in the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. The portion that went viral appears at the 10 minutes 9 seconds mark, where Tej Pratap says that if someone dances, they should naturally be called a dancer. He further explains that just as leaders are known for giving speeches, artists are recognised for dancing, and concludes by wishing Pawan Singh success in the elections while dancing. This confirms that Tej Pratap was not criticising his brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, but was in fact talking about Pawan Singh.
To know the origin of the viral video showing RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav dancing with a group of boys, we did a reverse image search of the keyframes and found (archived) that the video was uploaded on Tejashwi Yadav’s social media handle on 02 September 2025.
Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for six years in May 2025. The decision came after his controversial social media post about a long-term relationship, which he later claimed was the result of a hacked account. Following his expulsion, Tej Pratap announced he would contest the Bihar Assembly elections independently by launching “Team Tej Pratap Yadav.”
To sum up, the viral video does not show Tej Pratap Yadav criticising his brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, or calling him a dancer; he was actually talking about Pawan Singh.
