A video (here, here, here and here) showing a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) rally with police security on a public road is going viral on social media with the claim that it took place in Tiruvannamalai after a recent court order. Let’s find the truth behind this claim.

the archived post can be found here.

Claim: The viral video shows an RSS rally taking place in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.

Fact: The video is not from Tiruvannamalai. It shows an RSS centenary celebration rally held in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, in October 2025. Location verification using Google Maps and Google Street View confirms the footage is from Ratlam, and Tamil Nadu’s official fact-checking unit has also debunked the claim. Hence, the claim is Misleading.

To verify the claim, we first conducted a keyword search to check whether any such rally had taken place in Tiruvannamalai, but found no reports supporting it. We then performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the same visuals posted across multiple social media platforms in October 2025 (here, here, here and here). These posts identified the footage as an RSS march held in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, organised as part of the organisation’s centenary celebrations.

We then performed a keyword search, which led us to several news reports covering the event (here, here and here). According to these reports, thousands of Swayamsevaks participated in a march in Ratlam on 5 October 2025 to mark the RSS centenary. The procession started from five different locations in Ratlam, converged at Maharana Pratap Chowk, and then continued via Power House Road and Do Batti before concluding at Ambedkar Ground.

To verify the location seen in the viral footage, we analysed visual elements in the video and cross-checked them using Google Maps. During this process, we identified the exact spot where the footage was recorded. In the clip, as the camera pans, signboards reading “Ajit Jain” and “Rishabh” can be seen on a grey building. A comparison with Google Street View confirmed that this building is located on Power House Road in Ratlam city. This confirms that the video is from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, and not from Tamil Nadu.

Additionally, the Tamil Nadu government’s official fact-checking unit also debunked the claim, clarifying that the viral footage shows an RSS rally in Madhya Pradesh, not in Tiruvannamalai. Taken together, all available evidence confirms that the video is not from Tamil Nadu.

To sum up, a video of an RSS centenary rally in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, is being falsely shared as if it took place in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu.
