A video showing a man flying a locally made aircraft is being widely shared across social media platforms. In the video, the aircraft can be seen taking off from the ground and ascending into the sky in a rural area, while being chased by a large crowd. This video is circulating with the claim that a teenager from Bihar, Avanish Kumar, built a working aircraft using only scrap materials in just one week, at a cost of around ₹7,000 (here, here, here, & here). Several Indian media outlets have also shared the same video, reporting that a teenager from Bihar built an aircraft using scrap materials (here, here, & here). Claim: Video shows a aircraft built by Avanish Kumar from Bihar, using only scrap materials, completed in just one week at a cost of around ₹7,000.

Fact: This viral video has no connection with Bihar or India; it originates from Bangladesh. The aircraft seen in the video was built by Julhas Molla of Bangladesh. According to reports, it took him approximately four years and about 8 lakh taka (around ₹5.7 lakh) to build the plane. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

To find more details about the viral video, we conducted a Google reverse image search using keyframes from the clip. This search led us to an Instagram post (archived), dated 16 June 2025, which featured a higher-quality version of the viral video. Upon close observation, we noticed that the video carried a watermark in Bangla: “Krisan TV (ক্রিশাণ টিভি)”. Using this clue, a further search on the internet revealed that the same video had been shared (archived) by a Bangladeshi YouTube channel named ‘Krisan TV’ on 09 March 2025. The same clip was also shared by ‘Krisan TV’ on Facebook. According to the descriptions of these videos, the viral clip originates from the Manikganj district of Bangladesh, and the aircraft seen in the video was built by a man named Julhas, the son of a farmer from the same district.

Based on this information, we conducted a relevant keyword search to find more details related to the video. This led us to multiple news articles published by Bangladeshi media outlets in March 2025, which reported on the visuals of the aircraft seen in the viral video (hereherehere, & here).

According to these reports, Julhas Molla, 28, from Shaitghar Teota village in Shibaloy upazila, flew his self-made aircraft on the banks of the Jamuna River in the Jafarganj area on 04 March 2025. Julhas stated that it took him approximately four years and about 8 lakh taka (around ₹5.7 lakh) to build the plane. The aircraft was constructed using aluminium and iron, and is powered by a seven-horsepower water pump engine. It is reportedly capable of reaching an altitude of over 50 feet.

The reports further mention that Manikganj Deputy Commissioner, Manowar Hossain Molla, said the government would support Julhas’s research. US-Bangla Airlines also announced that it would provide financial and technical assistance to him. Several Bangladeshi media outlets also published video news stories covering Julhas Molla flying his self-made aircraft on the banks of the Jamuna River in the Jafarganj area on 04 March 2025 (herehereherehere, & here).
