Claim: The image shows the comparison between the painting and the real portrait of Maharana Pratap
Fact: The photo on the right in the viral picture shows Anand Rao III Puar (1844 – 1898), the Maharaja of Dhar. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
To verify the authenticity of the viral image, we conducted a reverse image search which led us to the Getty Images website, where the same photo is shared. The title of this photograph identifies this as the portrait of Anand Rao III Puar (1844 – 1898), the Maharaja of Dhar. It also mentions the image was clicked in 1877 and that it is sourced from the Hulton Archive.
On further research, an image of the same person was published on the Royal Collection Trust website which confirms that the person in the image is Maharaja of Dhar.
On the other hand, Maharana Pratap, a Rajput king of the kingdom of Mewar lived from 1540-1597.
To sum up, a portrait of the Maharaja of Dhar is shared as the authentic photo of Maharana Pratap.
