A viral video(here and here) on social media purportedly shows the Pune Porsche accident accused, singing a rap song about the incidents that happened in the case. This video was also sent to us on our WhatsApp tipline to verify its authenticity. We will be fact-checking this claim through this article.

You can find an archived version of this here.

Claim: This video shows the Pune Porsche accident accused singing a rap song smugly detailing the incidents that happened in the case and how we got away with it.

Fact: The person seen in this video is not the accused in this case. He is Aryan Dev Neekhra, aka ‘cringistaan2’, a social media content creator. He made a parody rap video, which he posted on his Instagram story tab. Pune police gave a clarification in this video that the accused in the case has no role in the video and Aryan Dev Neekhra was reportedly booked by the Pune police for making this parody video. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

After observing a few users calling out the viral video as fake, we performed a keyword search on the internet. We found a tweet (archive link) identifying the person in the video as a video creator named ‘cringistaan2.’

We then looked on cringistaan2’s Instagram feed and found a video of him saying that he made two parody videos, due to which a case was filed against him by the Pune police. In this video, he said that the rap was made as a parody and did not mean to harm anyone’s sentiments.

Through subsequent searches on the internet regarding this matter, we found that Pune police had reportedly given a clarification on the video. According to a report published by NDTV, ‘Pune police have clarified that it was a fake account and that the teenager had no role in the video.’  We learned that his name is Aryan Dev Neekhra.

Furthermore, we found news reports (here and here) carrying a video of the accused’s mother appealing to the police to protect (here and here) her son. In this video, she says that the person in the viral rap video is not her son and that he is in the detention centre.

To sum up, the person singing rap in this video is not the Pune Porsche accident accused.
