Claim: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has admitted that the BJP seeks votes in the elections by making false promises.

Fact: The original video of Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s speech in Barmer on 21 February 2024, has been edited between the timestamps 08:50 and 08:55, and shared with a false narrative, distorting the context of his speech. Originally, Bhajan Lal Sharma made this statement in reference to opposition parties. Hence, the claim in the post is FALSE.

To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we checked Bhajan Lal’s official Facebook page and found the same video in which he is seen wearing the same clothes and turban as seen in the viral video. If one carefully listens to this full-length video, one can understand the context of Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma’s words.

It was discovered that the viral video was a clip taken between the timestamps 08:50 and 08:55 of this video, and hence, the context of the comments was missing in the viral video. Before the clipped section, in his speech, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma was heard saying that BJP had made two promises in the Lok Sabha elections, that BJP will remove Article 370 and build the Ram Mandir temple. When the BJP made these promises, the opposition party termed both these promises as BJP’s jumla (false promises) and said BJP was asking for votes by giving false promises (jumla). But, we have fulfilled both promises, we removed Article 370 and built the Ram Mandir. From this, it is evident that the viral video has been clipped out of context from the original speech. Originally, Bhajan Lal Sharma had said this in the context of opposition parties calling them false promises. News reports regarding his speech can be seen here & here.

To sum it up, a clipped video of Bhajan Lal Sharma’s speech is being shared, claiming that he admitted that BJP seeks votes by giving false promises in the elections.
