2018 video of Tejashwi Yadav dancing at his brother’s wedding ceremony linked to the recent political rejig in Bihar

A video is being widely shared on social media claiming it as recent visuals of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav dancing in joy after JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar ended his party’s alliance with NDA and re-joined Mahagathbandhan. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Recent video showing RJD leaders Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav dancing in joy after Nitish Kumar ended an alliance with NDA and re-joined Mahagathbandhan.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows old visuals of Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav dancing to a DJ song at the latter’s wedding ceremony held in May 2018. The video shared in the post is old and has nothing to do with the recent political rejig in Bihar. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

On reverse image search of the screenshots of the video, a video with similar visuals was found published by the ‘Zee Bihar Jharkhand’ YouTube channel on 12 May 2018. ‘Zee Bihar Jharkhand’ reported it as the visuals of Tejashwi Yadav dancing at brother Tej Pratap Yadav’s wedding ceremony. A few other news channels have also published this video with a similar description in May 2018. They can be seen here and here.

When we searched for further sources, we found the same video on the official Twitter handle of Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi Yadav tweeted this video on 12 May 2018 saying-“Desi boys on the floor..Brother’s wedding..We are as we are…Simple & Straight forward”. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s eldest son Tej Pratap Yadav was married to RJD MLA Chandrika Rai’s daughter Aishwarya Rai on 12 May 2018.
