Following this, a video (here, here and here) showing a bulldozer destroying properties is widely shared on social media with claims that the Nepalese government was demolishing illegal Muslim properties in retaliation for the attack on the Durga Visarjan procession. Let’s investigate the truth behind this video.
Claim: The viral video shows the Nepali government bulldozing Muslims’ illegal properties after a Durga Mata procession was attacked.
Fact: This video is unrelated to the stone-pelting incident on the Durga Mata procession in Janakpur, Nepal, on 03 October 2025. The footage has been circulating online since 10 September 2025, well before the Durga Mata procession attack incident. Furthermore, there are no credible reports of any bulldozer demolitions of properties or mosques belonging to those who allegedly attacked the procession, either by ‘Gen Z’ protesters or the Nepali government. Hence the claim is FALSE.
To verify the context of the viral video, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the clip. This led us to several videos shared on social media in September 2025 (here, here, here, and here) showing the same visuals. Many users had shared these videos claiming they depicted the ‘Gen Z’ protests against the Nepal government in September 2025. Based on this evidence, it is clear that the viral video has no connection to the stone-pelting incident during the Durga Mata procession at a mosque in Janakpur, Nepal, on 3 October 2025.
Additionally, there is no credible evidence or media report confirming the demolition of properties belonging to individuals who allegedly pelted stones at the Durga Mata procession in Janakpur, Nepal.
To sum up, the video of Gen-Z protests in Nepal is falsely shared as the Nepali government bulldozing Muslim properties after a Durga Mata procession attack.
