In August 2025, record monsoon rains caused severe flash floods and landslides in Jammu, leading to casualties, extensive infrastructure damage, disrupted transport and communication, mass evacuations, and ongoing rescue operations. During this crisis, a video (here, here & here) depicting a motorcyclist being swept away by floodwaters was shared on social media with the claim that it shows an incident in Jammu City. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Visuals of a motorcyclist being swept away by floodwaters during floods in Jammu in August 2025.
Fact: While Jammu did experience severe flooding, this video is not from there. It shows a visual from floods in Karachi, Pakistan, that occurred in August 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
A reverse image search of the viral video led us to earlier uploads (here, here & here) that attributed the video to Karachi, Pakistan. Media reports confirmed that Karachi experienced significant urban flooding around 19-20 August 2025, after heavy monsoon rains dropped up to 163 mm of rain on the city.

We also found aerial footage of the Karachi floods that matched the visuals in the viral video.

Furthermore, we geolocated the video to the area near the Nursery Flyover in Karachi. A comparison with Google Street View confirms that the viral video is from Karachi, Pakistan, not Jammu, India.

To sum it up, footage of flooding in Pakistan has been falsely attributed to Jammu, India.
