The Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are scheduled to be held in two phases on 6 November and 11 November 2025. As the election campaign intensifies (here and here), a video (here, here, here, here and here) of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has gone viral. In the clip, he is heard saying, “I don’t get any illness, I have a direct connection with God, and I talk directly to God.” The video is being shared with the claim that he made these remarks about himself. Let’s find out the truth behind this claim.

Claim: The video shows Rahul Gandhi saying that he does not get any illness because he has a direct connection with God.
Fact: The viral video has been clipped and shared out of context. In the full version of his speech at a rally in Darbhanga on 29 October 2025, Rahul Gandhi was mimicking Prime Minister Narendra Modi while criticising him over a reported incident involving an alleged “fake Yamuna” setup for Chhath Puja. He did not make these remarks about himself. Hence the claim is FALSE.
To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the full version of the video live-streamed on Rahul Gandhi’s official YouTube channel. The video shows a joint public meeting held in Darbhanga, Bihar, on 29 October 2025, where several Mahagathbandhan leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and Mukesh Sahani, addressed the gathering. In the video, Mukesh Sahani speaks first, followed by Tejashwi Yadav, and then Rahul Gandhi begins his address, touching upon issues such as unemployment, public health, education, rehabilitation, and unfulfilled government promises.
In the full video, around the 34:00-minute mark, Rahul Gandhi begins mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He says, “If you want Modi to do anything, you can make him do it before the elections. If he comes to the next meeting and 200 people from the crowd ask him to dance on stage in exchange for votes, he’ll do it, he’ll even start performing Bharatanatyam on the stage.” He then refers to a recent incident, claiming that Modi staged a “drama” that exposed the real condition of the country. Rahul Gandhi says, “This drama took place at the Yamuna. On one side, the water is so dirty that if anyone drinks it, they’ll fall ill or even die. No one can go near it because it’s extremely polluted. Yet, Modi ji created another pool near the Yamuna for his Chhath Puja bath and made it look like he was taking a dip in the Yamuna itself all for election optics.”
Following this, at around the 35:25 timestamp, the part seen in the viral video, Rahul Gandhi mimics Modi and says, “I am bathing in the Yamuna water. I don’t get any illness, I have a direct connection with God, and I talk directly to God.”

After this, Rahul Gandhi adds, “Then, a pipe was connected to the pool from the other side, and clean water was supplied into it. The media then showed that Modi ji took a bath in the Yamuna. Later, when someone took a photo of the pipe, Modi ji said, ‘I will not go now.’”
While verifying the incident mentioned by Rahul Gandhi, we came across a post by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj, who shared a video claiming that a “fake Yamuna” was being created at Vasudev Ghat using filtered water. He alleged that Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to visit the site to perform Chhath Puja rituals ahead of the Bihar elections. Following this revelation, reports indicated that the Prime Minister’s visit was cancelled. Bhardwaj further claimed that the BJP called off Modi’s Chhath Puja programme after the controversy came to light. Although several media outlets reported on Modi’s expected visit to Vasudev Ghat, we could not find any reports confirming whether an official programme was planned or if the visit actually took place.
However, the viral video of Rahul Gandhi does not show him referring to himself. In reality, he was mimicking Prime Minister Modi during an election rally in Bihar. We could not find any report or evidence suggesting that Rahul Gandhi made such statements about himself. The viral clip has been selectively edited and shared out of context.
To sum up, the video of Rahul Gandhi mimicking PM Modi, saying he has a direct connection with God and won’t get ill, is being falsely shared as if he made those remarks about himself.
