Policy regarding Trauma or Harassment faced by Staff

1. Definition & Scope

Factly is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for all staff. Harassment includes but is not limited to verbal abuse, online threats, doxxing, intimidation, and any behaviour that creates a hostile work environment. Trauma may arise from exposure to distressing content, such as graphic violence, hate speech, or direct threats related to fact-checking work. This policy applies to all employees and contributors.

2. Reporting & Support

Any staff member experiencing harassment or trauma should report incidents immediately to their manager or the designated HR representative. Reports can be made confidentially, and retaliation against complainants will not be tolerated. Psychological support, counselling, and, if needed, legal assistance will be made available to affected employees. Employees are encouraged to use mental health resources and request workload adjustments if necessary.

3. Addressing Incidents & Consequences

Upon receiving a report, the organization will conduct a prompt and fair investigation. If harassment is confirmed, appropriate actions—ranging from warnings to termination—will be taken against perpetrators, whether internal or external. In cases involving external harassment (e.g., online abuse), the organization will support staff by liaising with relevant authorities and digital platforms to mitigate risks.

4. Commitment to a Safe Workplace

We prioritize the well-being of our staff and recognize the emotional toll their work can take. Regular training on digital safety, trauma resilience, and de-escalation techniques will be provided. By fostering a supportive culture, we aim to protect our team while ensuring the integrity of our work.
