Multiple FIRs were filed against YouTube podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina for allegedly using obscene and foul language on India’s Got Latent, following massive online outrage over Allahbadia’s joke posed as a question to a contestant (here and here). Amid this, a video (here, here and here) has gone viral on social media, claiming to show Samay Raina apologising on stage while using abusive language, linking it to the recent controversy. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows comedian Samay Raina apologising for the recent controversy on India’s Got Latent.
Fact: The viral video is actually from a November 2023 event where Raina was roasting rappers at the Karam song launch party. In the clip, he sarcastically tells the audience to fill out a feedback form if they have issues with his jokes, using offensive language. The video has no connection to the recent India’s Got Latent controversy, hence the claim is MISLEADING.
To verify the truth behind this video, we conducted a reverse image search, which led us to the original YouTube video from which the viral clip was taken. The video was uploaded on 02 November 2023 and is from the Karam song launch party. It was uploaded by Niles Hollowell-Dhar, a singer and rapper known professionally as KSHMR, as part of his album launch event. During this event, Samay Raina had a session dedicated to roasting rappers. At the 09:48 timestamp, which matches the viral clip, Raina is not apologising but rather making a sarcastic remark. He says, “If anyone has a problem with what I said, there’s a feedback form—fill it out and keep it with yourself,” using foul and offensive language. This clearly indicates that the video is part of that show and has no connection to the recent controversy.
The recent controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia made alleged vulgar remarks and asked inappropriate questions to a contestant on the show India’s Got Latent, hosted by Samay Raina. This led to multiple FIRs being filed against both of them, along with other individuals involved in the show (here and here). While the police investigation is ongoing, Samay Raina posted an apology on X, stating: “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.” However, the viral video is not his apology regarding this recent controversy but is instead from a past event.
To sum up, an old and sarcastic video of Samay Raina was shared as his apology for the recent controversy surrounding the show India’s Got Latent
