In the context of recently concluded Munugode bypoll in which TRS party won by a margin of over 10,000 votes, a post featuring the image of BJP’s candidate K.Rajagopal Reddy is being widely shared claiming that BJP was leading by 2000+ votes by the end of 4th round of counting. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: BJP’ candidate K. Rajagopal Reddy led by 2000+ votes by the end of 4th round in Munugode by-election counting.

Fact: According to the official figures released by Election Commission of India, after 4th round of counting in Munugode by-election, TRS candidate secured 26,443 votes whereas BJP’s Rajagopal Reddy secured 25,729 votes. This shows that TRS was leading BJP by 714 votes by the end of 4th round of counting. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

According to the official website of the Election Commission of India, by the end of 4th round,  TRS party’s candidate K.Prabhakar Reddy secured 26,443 votes, whereas BJP’s Rajagopal Reddy secured 25,729 votes. It shows that TRS is leading by 714 votes by the end of 4th round.

TRS secured 408 postal votes, whereas BJP got 212. The final result shows TRS’s candidate winning the seat by securing a total of 97,006 votes whereas BJP managed to get 86,697 votes.

To sum it up, BJP’s Rajagopal Reddy did not lead by over 2000 votes after 4 rounds of counting in the Munugode bypoll.
