In the backdrop of the May 2025 Indo-Pak conflict, rumours have started circulating on social media that India has attacked Pakistan’s nuclear facility located in Kirana Hills (here and here). On 12 May 2025, Indian Air Marshal A.K. Bharti said in a press conference that India did not attack Kirana Hills.

In this context, a video (here and here) purporting to show visuals of India’s attack on Pakistan’s nuclear post in Kirana Hills is going viral on social media. It is being shared with a description in Hindi that translates to ‘there is something that Pakistan is hiding.’ We will fact-check this claim through this article.

You can find the archived version of this claim here.

Claim: Video showing India’s attack on Kirana Hills as part of Operation Sindoor

Fact: This video has been on the internet since at least May 2015. It has nothing to do with the May 2025 Indo-Pak conflict. India has made it clear that it did not attack Kirana Hills in Pakistan. Hence, the claim made in this post is False.

To check the veracity of the claim, we did a reverse image search on the internet using a few keyframes from the viral video. Through this search, we found two social media posts dated 11 May 2015 with the same video (here, here).

An ‘X’ post explains that it shows an explosion in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. The same video was uploaded (archive link) by a Facebook page called ‘News of the Yemeni Revolution’ with a caption that says, ‘NYR | More of Nuqoum Mountain explosions. #Yemen #yf’.

Taking this as a clue, we searched the internet for any reports about this video and found some news reports that mentioned airstrikes by a Saudi-led coalition on the Yemeni capital Sanaa on 11 May 2015 (here, here, and here).

According to these reports, the attacks targeted military bases loyal to the Houthis, which were located north of the capital. 90 people were killed and 300 were injured in these attacks. Reportedly, the attacks took place in the area of ‘Noqum Mountain’ (here, here). The visuals seen in the viral video match the ones in the reports from May 2015.

However, the viral video is not present in any of these news reports. While we cannot independently verify the location of the viral video, it is clear that the video has been on the internet since at least May 2015 and that it has no connection to the May 2025 India-Pakistan conflict.

To sum up, an old video from 2015 is shared as visuals of India’s attack on Kirana Hills during Operation Sindoor in the context of the May 2025 India-Pakistan conflict.
