The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Voting will be conducted in two phases, with the first phase on 06 November 2025 and the second on 11 November 2025. The counting of votes is scheduled for 14 November 2025. As the Bihar elections approach, campaigning is intensifying, and political parties are preparing to finalise and announce their candidates (here and here).
Amid this, a video showing people attacking a car in a convoy with shoes, slippers, and stones, while a uniformed security officer tries to escort the vehicle safely, is being shared with the claim that it depicts a recent incident in Bihar, where people attacked a BJP MLA (here, here, here, here, and here). This article fact-checks the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video shows people attacking a BJP MLA in Bihar ahead of the 2025 Bihar elections.
Fact: This viral video has no connection to Bihar. It actually shows a mob attacking the convoy of BJP MP Khagen Murmu and BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh during their visit to flood-affected areas in Nagrakata, Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, on 06 October 2025. Hence the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
If we observe the viral video carefully, we can see text written in Bengali, which loosely translates to “Video of 06th, Nagrakata,” and the number plates of the vehicles in the video display “WB.” This suggests that the video is likely from West Bengal.

To gather more details, we conducted a Google reverse image search using key frames from the video. This led us to multiple Bengali news reports (here, here, and here) from 06 October 2025 featuring the same visuals as those in the viral video. According to these reports, the video shows an attack on BJP leaders while they were visiting Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal.
A keyword search further led us to multiple news articles (here, here, here, and here). According to these reports, Malda Uttar MP Khagen Murmu and Siliguri BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh, who were inspecting flood- and landslide-affected areas, were surrounded and attacked by a large group of locals in Nagrakata, Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, on 06 October 2025. Both leaders sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital.

To sum it up, a video showing an attack on BJP leaders on 06 October 2025 in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district is being misrepresented as an attack on BJP leaders in Bihar.
