A video (here, here and here) has gone viral on social media showing a building resembling a mosque burning in high flames, with claims that Bajrang Dal set fire to a mosque. Let’s investigate the truth behind this video.
Claim: The viral video shows Bajrang Dal setting fire to a mosque.
Fact: The video actually depicts a fire at a banquet hall in Raj Nagar Extension, Ghaziabad, and has nothing to do with any mosque or Bajrang Dal. The fire was caused by a short-circuit, not an act of arson targeting a religious place. Hence, the claim is FALSE.
To verify the truth, we conducted a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the same video uploaded by the Instagram handle Apna Ghaziabad on 4 April 2025. The caption mentioned that the video showed a banquet hall on fire in Raj Nagar Extension on 3 April 2025, with two vehicles also gutted in the fire, which is believed to have started due to a short circuit.
Another result led us to the same video on a YouTube channel named “Venue In Delhi – Wedding Planner In Delhi NCR.” The caption on the video also mentioned “Raj Nagar Extension Ghaziabad Banquet Catch Fire,” which indicates that the video is not related to any Muslim mosque.
Further search using the keywords led us to several reports (here and here) about the incident. According to these reports, a massive fire broke out near Raj Bagh Metro station in Sahibabad on 03 April 2025, destroying six trucks. The fire, suspected to have started from nearby garbage dumps, spread to parked trucks and a banquet hall. Fire officials managed to save 29 other trucks and evacuated nearby residents. Another fire at a farmhouse in Raj Nagar Extension was believed to have been caused by a short-circuit, damaging the banquet hall and a few vehicles. No injuries were reported in either incident.
Additionally, we searched for any recent incidents involving Bajrang Dal setting fire to a mosque, but we couldn’t find any reports related to such an incident.
To sum up, a video of a banquet hall fire in Ghaziabad is being shared with a false claim of Bajrang Dal setting fire to a Mosque.
