In the context of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, a video (here and here) circulating on social media shows a woman attempting to hit a man with slippers, after which the man kicks her, and another man kicks him. It is being claimed that the man is a BJP candidate in Bihar who was beaten with slippers by voters. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.

Claim: The video shows a woman beating a BJP leader in Bihar with slippers during the 2025 Assembly elections.
Fact: The viral video is unrelated to the Bihar elections. It is from Nizamabad, Telangana, and dates back to June 2018, when TRS leader and Dharpally Mandal president Gopi was caught on camera kicking a woman during a land dispute. FIRs were registered at the Indalwai Police Station. Hence, the claim is FALSE.
To verify the truth, we performed a reverse image search, which led us to the same video shared on different social media platforms in 2018 (here, here, here and here). The posts mentioned that it shows a Telangana local body chief kicking a woman in the chest during a land dispute, indicating that the video is from Telangana, not Bihar.

Further research led us to several media reports, including screenshots from the viral video, confirming that the incident took place in June 2018 (here, here and here). According to these reports, the video is from Nizamabad, Telangana, and shows Dharpally Mandal president and TRS leader Gopi kicking a woman during a confrontation over a land dispute. Police said the woman had earlier hit him with her footwear after Gopi allegedly refused to hand over a property she purchased for ₹33.72 lakh. A case was registered against Gopi under IPC sections 354, 323, and 506, while he filed a counter-complaint accusing the woman and her relatives of trespassing and damaging property. The dispute reportedly began after Gopi demanded an additional ₹50 lakh, citing increased land prices.

To verify the case details, we accessed the Telangana Police website and found that multiple FIRs were registered at the Indalwai Police Station in Nizamabad district based on complaints from the individuals involved in this incident (here, here, here and here). This evidence confirms that the video is from Telangana, not Bihar, and it has no connection with the 2025 Bihar elections or the BJP.
To sum up, a 2018 video of a land dispute from Telangana is falsely shared as showing voters hitting a BJP leader with slippers in Bihar.
