Following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, a video was released, reportedly recorded by a tourist survivor named Rishi Bhatt while he was ziplining at the time of the incident. Rishi Bhatt stated that the zipline operator said “Allahu Akbar” three times before the shooting began, as seen in the video. In this context, another video (here, here & here) showing a man being thrashed is widely circulating on social media, with claims that the zipline operator Arshad Nadeem was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and is being tortured. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.
Claim: The video shows the zipline operator present during the Pahalgam terror attack being thrashed by NIA officials.
Fact: This video has been available online since at least 2018, originally linked to the Pakistan Army. However, the zipline operator—identified as Muzamil Ahmed Kumhar—is currently being interrogated by the NIA in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
A reverse image search of the viral video led us to earlier versions of the same footage uploaded by multiple users (here & here) in 2018, stating that it shows the Pakistan Army torturing a Balochistan student. FACTLY had also debunked this video in 2019 when it went viral with a false claim that it showed the Indian Army torturing terrorists involved in the Pulwama terror attack.
While we could not independently verify the origin and authenticity of the video, it is evident that the video is old and unrelated to the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. However, according to media reports (here and here), the zipline operator—identified as Muzamil Ahmed Kumhar—is currently being interrogated by the NIA in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police questioned him.
To sum up, an old and unrelated video is being falsely shared as footage of the NIA torturing Pahalgam zipline operator Muzamil Ahmed.
