A video is being shared on social media claiming that using a mobile application named ‘Whats Tracker’, one could track the profile visitors of their WhatsApp accounts. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Mobile application to track the profile visitors to WhatsApp accounts.

Fact: WhatsApp does not provide any default option to check profile visitors, and in a statement, WhatsApp informed that they do not support or recommend any third-party unofficial applications violating their Terms of Service. ‘Whats Tracker’, ‘WhatsApp who Viewed Me’ and other third-party applications do not provide credible data on WhatsApp profile visitors and most of the customers who used these applications informed them as fake. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

When we searched to find the veracity of the claim made in the post, we found that WhatsApp has not provided any default option to check profile visitors on its application. In an updated security feature, WhatsApp provided users an additional privacy control setting to control who can see their WhatsApp profile picture. But as of now, WhatsApp has not provided a feature to track profile visitors on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp in a statement informed that they do not support any unofficial applications of WhatsApp that violate their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Warning about these third-party applications, WhatsApp said, “These apps put your privacy, security, and safety at risk. If you’re using them, there’s no guarantee your messages or your data, like your location or the files you share, will be private and secure. Your account might also be temporarily or permanently banned.”

Whats Tracker’, ‘Who Viewed My Profile’ and other third-party applications related to WhatsApp do not provide any credible data on WhatsApp profile visitors. All these applications show random contacts as the latest profile visitors of respective WhatsApp accounts. Most of the users in the review section stated these applications as fraudulent alleging these applications display random contacts as their latest profile visitors. A few tech news websites have also reported that these third-party applications are fake.

To sum it up, WhatsApp has no default option to track profile visitors, and it does not support any third-party mobile application violating its terms of service.
