Video of statue removal in Haryana falsely shared as that of a violent murder, similar to the Meerut blue drum murder case
A video (here, here, here, here, and here) circulating on social media is being shared with a claim that it shows a dead body, recently found inside a cement pillar. Users are drawing parallels between this incident and the gruesome murder of a man named Saurabh Rajput who was killed by (here and here) his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil in Meerut (the infamous blue drum murder case), which occurred in March 2025.
The video is being shared with the claim that it shows a recent case where a human body was discovered inside a cement pillar. In the footage, what appears to be a half-buried body is seen being removed with the help of an excavator. We fact-check this claim in this article.
Claim: The video shows the corpse of a person who was murdered and hidden inside a cement pillar
Fact: The visuals actually show a statue being removed in Arya Nagar village, Hisar (Haryana), and not the dead body of a murdered person inside a cement pillar. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.
To check the veracity of the claim, we searched the internet using relevant keywords for any news reports about this incident. However, we did not find any news reports on such an incident that featured the visuals seen in the viral video.
Further, we performed a reverse image search on a few keyframes from the viral video. This search led us to a YouTube post with a similar claim that contained a clearer version of the viral video.
In the comments section, a person pointed out that the video shows a statue. Another person stated that it shows a statue of some army personality in Hisar, Haryana.
Taking this as a hint, we ran a keyword search on the internet and found multiple news reports (here, here, here, and here) about this incident from Hisar, Haryana. They featured the cylindrical cement pillar seen in the viral video, and the visuals in these reports also matched the viral video.
As per these reports, a statue of a soldier named Kumbharam, who was apparently part of Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Fauj, was installed at an intersection in Arya Nagar village located in Hisar, Haryana. It was removed by the authorities on 11 September 2025 after villagers protested against its installation. Reportedly, the villagers claimed he was not a soldier of the Azad Hind Fauj.
Furthermore, based on the hints from the video reports (Saini Sweets signboard seen on the reports and the viral video), we found the exact location where the video was filmed, with the help of the Google Street View option on Google Maps. We found the place where this incident happened to be Arya Nagar, Hisar, as reported by the media.
To sum up, a video of a statue being removed in Haryana is being shared with a false narrative that it shows the dead body of a person hidden inside a cement pillar after he was murdered.
