It is being claimed that cab drivers in Tamil Nadu are forcibly dragging travellers at the airport. Let’s uncover the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows cab drivers in Tamil Nadu forcibly dragging travellers at the airport.

Fact: The video actually shows a personal dispute at Coimbatore airport in May 2025, where a woman confronted her partner and slapped his relative while he was dragging her. News reports and the Tamil Nadu Government Fact Check Unit confirmed that the clip has no connection with cab drivers. Hence, the claim is FALSE.

To find the truth, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the same video uploaded by the Indian Express Tamil Nadu on 27 March 2025. The caption read “After marrying me, he went on a honeymoon with her”… Woman abuses newlywed couple: Commotion at Coimbatore airport. This indicates that the viral video shows a personal dispute involving three individuals, not cab drivers harassing travellers.

Further search led us to several media reports covering the incident, including the viral video (here, here and here). According to these reports, Coimbatore Airport witnessed a commotion on 26 May 2025 after a Chennai–Coimbatore flight landed. A woman confronted a man, accusing him of marrying her and then going on a honeymoon with another woman. She abused him publicly with harsh words in front of passengers. When a relative of the man, the one in a blue shirt seen in the viral video, tried to intervene, she slapped him, sparking a heated argument. The chaos drew attention at the airport, and Peelamedu police have started investigating the woman’s claims and her relationship with the man.

Additionally, the Tamil Nadu Government Fact Check Unit clarified about this incident on 16 August 2025, after the claim went viral on social media. They stated that the video actually shows a personal dispute, where a woman confronted her unfaithful lover at Coimbatore airport in March 2025, and not an incident involving cab drivers. The unit confirmed that the clip is being misrepresented online with the false claim that taxi drivers at Tamil Nadu airports are harassing passengers. These clarifications clearly establish that the viral video has no connection with cab drivers in Tamil Nadu.
