Video from ‘Christmas Train of Lights’ event in Devon is shared as that of illuminated Tejas Express

A video is being shared on social media claiming it as the beautiful visuals of an illuminated Tejas Express train travelling from Mumbai to Goa. This post claims that Narendra Modi led BJP Government had conducted this beautiful light event as part of the New year 2022 celebrations. Let’s verify the claim made in the post.

Claim: Video of an illuminated Tejas Express train travelling from Mumbai to Goa.

Fact: The video shared in the post shows the first official run of the ‘Train fo Lights 2021’, an annual Christmas event conducted by the ‘Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat’ company in Devon, UK. This illuminated train journey starts at Queen’s Park station in Paignton. This video has nothing to do with the 2022 New Year celebrations in India. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

On reverse image search of the screenshots in the video, similar videos were found on YouTube describing it as the beautiful visuals of the Christmas Train of Lights in Paignton. They can be seen here and here. When we searched using these keywords, a similar video was found in an article published by ‘The McDowell News’ website on 02 December 2021. The description under the video states, “Mesmerizing footage captures the first official run of the ‘Train of Lights 2021’ as it passes through Goodrington in Devon, England”. This footage was reportedly captured by a professional photographer named Scott Williams.

‘The Christmas Train of Lights’ is an annual event conducted in Paignton sea town in Devon, UK. The ‘Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat’ company had started organizing this annual Christmas event in 2018. This illuminated train journey starts at Queen’s Park Station in  Paignton and passes through the 450-metre Greenway tunnel that leads to the enchanted forest and river Dart. After a turnaround at Kingswear and with the opportunity to disembark and take photographs from the platform, the train returns to Paignton which allows passengers to experience the spectacle from a different direction.​ The visuals of the ‘Christmas Train of Light’ event conducted in 2019 can be seen here and here.
