Unrelated video of men paraded by police in Alwar, Rajasthan, falsely linked to Khatu Shyam temple case

A video (here, here, and here) showing a few men being paraded by police on a road is being widely shared online with the claim that they are the shopkeepers who attacked (here, here, and here) devotees from Madhya Pradesh at the Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan on 11 July 2025. We will fact-check this claim through this article.

Claim: Video of police parading the shopkeepers who assaulted devotees in the premises of Khatu Shyam temple, located in Sikar District, Rajasthan.

Fact: The video has nothing to do with the Khatu Shyam incident. It is actually from Alwar District, Rajasthan, where police arrested four men for attacking a traffic policeman named Pradeep Kumar during a Muharram procession on 6 July 2025. Hence, the claim made in the post is False.

To verify the viral claim, we ran a reverse image search on keyframes from the video, which led us to news reports (here, here, and here) about the viral video. According to an 11 July 2025  bulletin posted on Facebook and X by Zee Rajasthan (here and here), the video is from Alwar, and shows police parading four men arrested for assaulting (here and here) a traffic policeman named Pradeep Kumar. An officer featured in the clip, City Circle Officer (CO) Angad Sharma, stated that the action was taken in the context of violence during a Muharram procession.

The same was reported by NDTV Rajasthan, which named the accused as Aghik alias Siddiq, Mohammad Kaif alias Nandu Khan, and Shahid Ali alias Balla. Alwar Police had also posted about the arrests on X, stating that the accused were taken into custody under the jurisdiction of Shivaji Park police station. Dainik Bhaskar reported that the accused attacked the traffic policeman Pradeep Kumar on 6 July 2025.

Meanwhile, the Khatu Shyam incident happened in Sikar district, Rajasthan, on 11 July 2025, where local shopkeepers near the Khatu Shyam temple clashed with devotees from Madhya Pradesh over shelter during heavy rains. As per the news reports (here and here) and a confirmation from the Sikar Police on X, four shopkeepers involved in this incident had been arrested, but no video of their arrest or public parade has surfaced as stated in the viral claim.

To sum up, an unrelated video from Alwar showing men paraded for attacking a traffic constable is now being falsely linked to the Khatu Shyam temple assault case.
