A video (here, here and here) showing a large gathering of Muslims chanting ‘Allah Allah’ is going viral on social media, with claims that it is from Assam and that the crowd had assembled to pray for the defeat of Prime Minister Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Let’s find the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows Muslims in Assam gathering and praying for the defeat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Fact: The video is not from Assam. It shows the Charmonai Mahfil, a large religious gathering held in Barisal, Bangladesh. The banner, stage setup, and other visuals match those from the Charmonai Awaaz Mehfil event. No credible reports suggest that such a gathering took place in Assam. The claim is FALSE.
To verify the claim, we first checked whether any such incident had taken place in Assam. A keyword search revealed no credible reports supporting the claim.
Next, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to several social media posts containing clips from the same video (here and here). In one such post, we noticed a banner on the stage displaying the words ‘Charmonai Awaaz Mehfil’, confirming that the visuals are from this event.
Further, we researched Charmonai Awaaz Mehfil using appropriate keywords, which led us to multiple reports (here, here and here) explaining that Charmonai Mahfil is a religious gathering held at Charmonai Darbar Sharif in Barisal, Bangladesh. The event is organised twice a year, once in the Bengali month of Agrahayana and once in Phalguna. In 2025, the Phalguna Mahfil began on 19 February, and the most recent Agrahayana Mahfil took place from 26 to 28 November 2025 (here and here).
Additionally, while reviewing recent news reports about the Charmonai Awaaz Mehfil, we noticed that the stage decorations, especially the large clock-like structure placed among the gathering, perfectly match what is seen in the viral video. A side-by-side comparison confirms that the visuals align with the setup at the Charmonai Mahfil in Bangladesh, not Assam.
To sum up, this video showing a large Muslim gathering from Bangladesh is being falsely shared as from Assam with a communal narrative.
