A video (here, here and here) is going viral on social media, showing a cow sitting on a scooter, which then appears to move. In the next clip, the cow seems to be riding down an Indian street. It’s being widely shared as if it’s real. Let’s find out the truth behind this clip.
Claim: The viral video shows a cow sitting and riding a scooter on a street in India.
Fact: The video is AI-generated as it has visible inconsistencies, and detection tools have flagged it as AI-generated. Hive AI tool flagged it as 95.5% AI-generated. While a video from a similar incident from Rishikesh went viral earlier, this clip is unrelated. Hence, the claim is FALSE.
While closely examining the video, we spotted several inconsistencies. For instance, the number plate of the vehicle and the shop name boards appear in an unrecognisable and meaningless script. Additionally, there are noticeable colour changes on the cow’s body as it steps onto the scooter and afterwards. These glitches strongly suggest that the video is AI-generated.
To verify if the video was AI-generated, we ran it through the Hive AI detection tool, which flagged it as 95.5% AI-generated. While we couldn’t trace the source of the video, the inconsistencies confirm that the video is indeed AI-generated.
Additionally, a similar video had gone viral in May, claiming to show a cow climbing onto a scooter in Rishikesh. The CCTV footage showed the scooter moving forward due to the cow’s weight. However, the currently viral video has no connection to that incident and appears to be entirely unrelated.
To sum up, this video showing a cow sitting and riding a scooter is AI-generated and not real.
