This video predates Bihar’s November 2025 anti-encroachment drive and does not show Tejashwi Yadav providing financial aid to the affected

Following the formation of the Nitish Kumar led NDA government after the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, the state administration began an anti-encroachment drive in several districts. Bulldozers were used in places such as Patna, Khagaria, Biharsharif, and Nalanda to remove illegal structures and roadside encroachments from public roads and government land, often citing court directions. While the government has defended the action as part of improving governance and tackling land mafias, the drive has triggered criticism and protests, with opposition parties and residents alleging that it is impacting poor vendors and low-income groups (here, here, here, and here).

Amid these developments, a video is being shared on social media (here, here, and here) claiming to show Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav providing financial assistance to people whose houses were demolished during the bulldozer action. The posts claim that Tejashwi Yadav gave Rs 30,000 each to the affected families. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.

Claim: The video shows RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav giving Rs 30,000 to people affected by the anti-encroachment drive in Bihar.

Fact: The video does not show RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav giving Rs 30,000 to people affected by the November 2025 anti-encroachment drive. It actually dates back to 17 June 2025, when he visited Saran, met more than 15 road accident victims and the families of five deceased in Saidpur village, Dighwara, and provided them with financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 each. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.

To verify the claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords but found no credible evidence or reliable news reports stating that Tejashwi Yadav personally gave Rs 30,000 to people whose houses were demolished during the anti-encroachment drive in Bihar. We also reviewed Tejashwi Yadav’s official social media handles (here, here, and here) and found no mention of him distributing money to those affected.

We then conducted a reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video, which led us to a similar video uploaded to the Facebook page Live Bihar Digital Network on 17 June 2025. His attire and the people seen alongside him match those in the viral clip. According to that video, Tejashwi Yadav met road accident victims in Saran. He provided them with financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 each, confirming that the video predates the November 2025 anti-encroachment drive.

According to reports (here, here), on 17 June 2025, Tejashwi Yadav visited Dighwara, Dariyapur, and Baniyapur in Saran. During the visit, he met the families of five people who had died in road accidents in Saidpur village, Dighwara, and provided them with financial assistance.

In an Instagram post on 17 June 2025, Tejashwi Yadav shared pictures of his visit, where he can be seen wearing the same attire as in the viral video, with the people alongside him also matching those in the clip. He stated that during the visit, he met more than 15 victims injured in the road accident, as well as the families of the five deceased, offered condolences, and provided financial assistance.

To sum up, this video predates Bihar’s November 2025 anti-encroachment drive and does not show Tejashwi Yadav giving financial aid to the affected.
