Amid widespread protests in Iran (here, here), a video is going viral on social media (here, here) showing a woman removing her burqa and revealing a T-shirt carrying an explicit message against Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The video is being shared with the claim that it captures a public act of protest by a woman in Iran. Let’s verify the claim made in the post in this article.
Claim: The video shows a woman in Iran publicly protesting by removing her burqa and revealing a T-shirt with an explicit message against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Fact: The video does not show a woman protesting in Iran. It was recorded in Paris, France, on 11 January 2026 during a rally held in support of the Iran protests. The woman in the video is Camille Eros, a French activist, who herself confirmed on X that the clip was filmed in Paris. Hence, the claim made in the post is MISLEADING.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led to multiple social media posts (here, here) featuring the same clip. These posts claimed that the video was filmed during a rally held on 11 January 2026 in Paris, organised in support of protests in Iran, and identified the woman as Camille Eros, a French activist.
We checked Camille Eros’s official X and Instagram accounts and found that she had posted the same video on 11 January 2026.
In a reply to a user on X, Camille explicitly stated that the video was recorded in Paris, France, directly contradicting claims that it originated in Iran.
According to Camille Eros’s social media bio, she serves as the spokesperson for the France-based organisation Collectif Eros. The group’s official website describes Collectif Eros as an organisation opposed to what it characterises as “woke,” LGBTQ+, and far-left ideologies. The website also features a profile of Camille Eros in its spokesperson section, where she is described as a former leftist who now believes that right-wing ideology is the only way to safeguard the interests of French citizens.
According to reports (here, here), around 2,000 people marched in Paris on 11 January 2026 in support of the ongoing protests in Iran. The march began at Place Victor Hugo and concluded at Trocadéro. Protesters were seen waving pre-1979 Iranian monarchy flags featuring the Lion and Sun, and Israeli and American flags were also visible in the crowd. These details closely align with the visuals observed in the viral video.
We used Google Lens to identify the buildings visible in the background of the video and found that they match structures located around Place Victor Hugo square in Paris, France. This confirms that the video was recorded in France and not Iran.
To sum up, this video of a woman protesting with an anti‑Khamenei T‑shirt was filmed in Paris, not Iran.
