This video of a Bangladeshi Hindu man seeking protection is AI-generated

On 18 December 2025, Deepu Chandra Das, a Hindu youth, was lynched and his body burned in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district following rumours of blasphemy. Police and the Rapid Action Battalion later stated that there was no evidence to support the allegation. Several suspects have been arrested, and the incident drew widespread condemnation as an act of mob violence (here, here and here). Amid this, a video (here, here, here and here) has gone viral on social media showing a Hindu man standing in front of a burning building, begging for help and claiming that he will be killed like Deepu Chandra Das. Let’s examine the truth behind this video.

Claim: The viral video shows a Bangladeshi Hindu man describing a tense situation in the country and asking for protection.

Fact: The video is not real and was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The source of the video traces back to a digital content–creation account, and AI detection tools have confirmed that it is AI-generated. Hence, the claim is FALSE

To verify the claim, we conducted a keyword search to check whether any such incident had occurred in Bangladesh, but found no credible reports supporting the claim. We then performed a reverse image search, which led us to the same video uploaded on 24 December 2025 on an Instagram handle named tarobhaikuldeepp. The account’s bio clearly states that the page owner is a digital creator, indicating that the video was digitally created. To further support this, we found several similar AI-generated videos posted on the same account (here, here and here).

To verify whether the video was digitally created using AI, we analysed it using AI detection tools such as Hive and Deepfake-o-meter. Both tools flagged the video as AI-generated, confirming that it is not a real incident but a digitally created video.

To sum up, this video of a Bangladeshi Hindu man seeking protection is AI-generated.
