A widely shared video shows a child hanging by a chain tied around their neck, accompanied by the claim that it depicts Pakistani Islamic terrorists torturing a Hindu boy in Pakistan (here & here). In this article, we fact-check the validity of this claim.
Claim: Video depicting Pakistani Islamic terrorists torturing a Hindu boy in Pakistan.
Fact: The video shows a Muslim child being tortured by dacoits who kidnapped him. The incident occurred in Sindh, Pakistan. News reports identified the child as Ayaz and his father as Noorullah Khan. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.
While it is true that the video shows a child with a noose around his neck in Pakistan, the incident is not of a communal nature. The child in the video is a Muslim, and he was forced into this situation by dacoits.
A reverse image search of screenshots from the viral video led us to Pakistan-based news reports from May 2024. These reports identified the child as Ayaz from Sindh, Pakistan. According to the reports, Ayaz was abducted by dacoits who released a video demanding ransom from his parents. In the video, the child is seen with a noose around his neck.
Further investigation uncovered numerous news reports detailing the incident, identifying the child as Ayaz (here & here). These reports also named the child’s father as Noorullah Khan. According to the reports, the Sindh police recovered the child from the Indus River in Ghotki district after a month. None of the reports mentioned that the child is Hindu and considering the names of both the child and his father, it’s evident that they are Muslim.
To sum up, this video does not depict a Hindu child being tortured by Pakistani terrorists.
