Claim: The viral video shows workers in Chinese factories spray a chemical on unripe fruits and vegetables, causing them to ripen instantly.

Fact: This video is AI-generated. It originates from an account that labels such clips as digitally created, and AI detection tools also confirm it is not real. Hence the claim is FALSE.

To find the truth, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the original video uploaded by the account ‘huqiuju,’ a page known for posting AI-generated content. The creator had labelled this clip as AI-generated, and the account contains several similar AI-created videos showing fruits and vegetables being ‘ripened’ instantly (here, here and here).

Upon reviewing the original upload, we found Chinese text in the video. After translating it, the text reads: ‘The video footage is digitally composited and does not exist in reality.

To verify whether the video is AI-generated, we ran it through Hive, an AI detection tool, which showed a 99.9% likelihood that the clip is AI-generated. This, along with the other evidence, confirms that the video is indeed AI-generated. Previously, another video from the same account had also gone viral as real, which Factly debunked earlier.

To sum up, this video, claiming to show fruits and vegetables instantly ripening in a Chinese factory after a substance is sprayed, is AI-generated.
