A purported online website of luxury brand watch company ‘Rolex’ is conducting an online contest claiming that ‘Rolex’ has offered luxury gift watches on the occasion of its 100th-Anniversary celebrations. Factly received a query on its WhatsApp tip-line number (+91 9247052470) to check the authenticity of the website.

Fact: This website conducting an online survey with the name of luxury watch company ‘Rolex’ is a fraudulent one. ‘Rolex’ company was founded in 1905 and is celebrating its 116th anniversary in 2021. As of now, ‘Rolex’ had not offered any such gift watches by conducting an online contest. Hence the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched to check whether ‘Rolex’ watch company has conducted any such contest for free luxury watches, we could not find details of any such contest on the official website of ‘Rolex’. According to an article published by ‘Robb Report’ news website, the ‘Rolex’ watch company was founded by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law in 1905. Rolex company is celebrating its 116th anniversary in 2021. Also, it can be observed that the Rolex official website is completely different from the website that is conducting this contest for free Rolex watches. If Rolex had conducted such an online contest for free luxury watches, several news websites would have published articles reporting the contest. But, we could not find any such article on the internet.

When we searched for the details of the online website that is conducting an online contest for free Rolex luxury watches, we found the details of that website in the ‘Whois.com’ website. This online website with the domain name ‘qhmwmr.vip’ was registered in July 2020. This website has nothing to do with the Geneva-based ‘Rolex’ watch company. From all these pieces of evidence, it can be concluded that the purported website conducting this contest in the name of Rolex watch company is a fraudulent one.
