In this context, a photo (here and here) has gone viral on social media showing a large gathering at a funeral, with Bollywood celebrities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Mukesh Ambani lined up. The post claims that this photo is from Dharmendra’s funeral. Let’s find out the truth behind this photo.

Claim: The viral photo shows PM Narendra Modi and Mukesh Ambani, along with Bollywood actors, attending the funeral of veteran actor Dharmendra.

Fact: The photo is AI-generated. No credible reports confirm that PM Modi or Mukesh Ambani attended Dharmendra’s funeral, though several actors did visit. Additionally, AI detection tools flagged the viral image as most likely to be AI-generated. Hence the claim is FALSE.

To find the truth behind this claim, we conducted a keyword search to check whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Dharmendra’s funeral. We found no credible reports confirming his presence except for a condolence message posted by PM Modi on Dharmendra’s passing. Likewise, our search to verify whether Mukesh Ambani attended the funeral also did not yield any credible reports.

To verify whether all these celebrities attended the funeral, we reviewed multiple reports. NDTV and other media outlets confirmed that many of them, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan, visited either Dharmendra’s home or the funeral in Mumbai (here, here and here). However, the exact lineup shown in the viral photo does not appear in any real photograph published by the media, indicating that the viral image is digitally created.

To verify whether the photo was AI-generated, we ran it through Hive, the AI detection tool. The analysis showed an 86% likelihood that the image is AI-generated, confirming that the viral photo is not real.
