This interview video of Donald Trump saying Modi rejected his help is old and not related to the recent 2025 Pahalgam terror attack

After Operation Sindoor and the subsequent unrest between Pakistan and India, both nations declared a ceasefire. Amid this, former US President Donald Trump claimed to have acted as a mediator between the two countries. However, India firmly rejected any third-party involvement in the India-Pakistan conflict. In this context, a video (here, here and here) went viral on social media showing Trump in an interview, where he mentions offering help to PM Modi during a time of threat, but Modi declined. The video is being shared as if it relates to the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Let’s find out the truth behind this video.

Claim: The video shows Donald Trump saying that PM Modi rejected his offer to help India after the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Fact: The video is old and unrelated to the recent 2025 Pahalgam terrorist attack. It is from an October 2024 interview on the Flagrant podcast, where Trump speaks generally about offering help to India during a past threat. He does not mention the Pahalgam incident. While Trump had earlier claimed to be a mediator during India-Pakistan tensions, India firmly rejected third-party intervention. Since the viral video is not connected to the recent events, the claim is Misleading.

On watching the video, it is clear that Trump is not referring to the recent Pahalgam attack. He only mentions that “when India was threatened,” he offered to help. To verify the video’s origin, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to several posts on X featuring the same clip (here, here and here), all uploaded in October 2024. Further search led us to the full interview, nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes long, uploaded on the Flagrant YouTube channel on 09 October 2024.

This interview was related to the U.S. elections and took place before the polls. At the 36:35 timestamp, Trump begins talking about India as seen in the viral video. He mentions PM Modi, calling him a “great” and a “friend of mine,” but also describes him as a “total killer.” To support this statement, Trump recalls an instance when India was threatened by another country. He says he offered help because he was good with those people, but Modi declined and said, “I will do it.” This conversation is not about the recent Pahalgam terror attack, as the video dates back to October 2024. We also found several news reports from that time related to this interview (here, here and here).

To sum up, this interview video of Donald Trump saying Modi rejected his help is old and not related to the recent terror attack.
