This circular claiming that Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University would award 50 internal marks to students attending PM Modi’s event is fake

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the silver jubilee celebrations of Uttarakhand at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun on 09 November 2025. Amid the event, a circular (here, here, here and here) allegedly issued by Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University went viral on social media. The notice claimed that all second-year BTech (CSE and specialisation) and BCA students were required to attend the programme, and those who did would be awarded 50 internal marks. Let’s find the truth behind this claim.

Claim: Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University issued a circular mandating students to attend PM Modi’s event for 50 internal marks.

Fact: The circular is fake and was not issued by Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University. The university itself clarified on its official X handle that no such notice was released, and PIB Fact Check also confirmed the letter circulating on social media is fake. Hence the claim is FALSE.

To verify this, we went through the official website of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University, but did not find any such circular. On examining the viral document, it was observed that it lacked a date, a standard element in official university circulars. Moreover, the header design and formatting differed from genuine circulars available on DBUU’s official website (here and here), indicating that the viral notice was not authentic.

Further, a keyword search led us to the official X handle of Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University. A post on this handle explicitly stated that the viral circular about awarding marks for attending the FRI event was fake.

Additionally, PIB Fact Check, the government’s official fact-checking unit, also confirmed that the letter being shared on social media was fake and not issued by the university.

Based on these findings, it is clear that the viral circular claiming students would receive 50 internal marks for attending Prime Minister Modi’s event in Dehradun is fake and not issued by Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University.
