This video of Rahul Gandhi allegedly saying Modi wins elections because India supports Modi and Amit Shah is edited

A video circulating on social media (here, here, and here) claims to show Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi saying that Narendra Modi wins elections because India supports Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. In the clip, he can be heard saying, “और अच्छी तरह सुनिए, नरेंद्र मोदी चुनाव जीतता है और नरेंद्र मोदी और अमित शाह की मदद हिंदुस्तान करता है” (And listen carefully, Narendra Modi wins elections, and India supports Narendra Modi and Amit Shah). Let’s verify the truth behind the video in this article.

The archived post can be found here.

Claim: The video shows Rahul Gandhi saying that Narendra Modi wins elections because India supports Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

Fact: The viral video misrepresents Rahul Gandhi’s statement. In the original clip from his address during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ at Gaighat, Muzaffarpur, Bihar on 27 August 2025, he said that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah win elections by stealing and manipulating votes, with the help of the Election Commission of India. He did not say that Narendra Modi wins elections because India supports Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to the original video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of the Indian National Congress on 27 August 2025. Upon reviewing the full video, we found that the viral clip is taken from the 12 minutes 40 seconds mark, where Rahul Gandhi says:“और अच्छी तरह सुनिए नरेंद्र मोदी वोट चोरी करके चुनाव जीतता है। नरेंद्र मोदी वोट चोरी करके, वोट कटवा के, वोट बढ़ा के चुनाव जीतता है। और नरेंद्र मोदी और अमित शाह की मदद हिंदुस्तान का इलेक्शन कमिशन करता है।” (And listen carefully, Narendra Modi wins elections by stealing votes. Narendra Modi wins elections by stealing votes, cutting votes, and inflating votes. And Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are helped by India’s Election Commission.)

This confirms that the viral video is clipped and the original context of Rahul Gandhi’s statement has been misrepresented, as the viral version omits references to vote manipulation and the Election Commission, changing the meaning entirely.

The viral clip is taken from Rahul Gandhi’s address during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ at Gaighat, Muzaffarpur, Bihar on 27 August 2025, where he focused on alleged voter-list manipulation or “vote chori,” accused the BJP, PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and the Election Commission of enabling electoral fraud, highlighted marginalised groups’ votes being cut, criticised media and corporate influence.

To sum up, this video of Rahul Gandhi allegedly saying Modi wins elections because India supports Modi and Amit Shah is edited.
