Claim: The viral video shows a gorilla gently handing over a baby to a woman .

Fact: The video is not from a real incident. It was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI), and deepfake detection tools have confirmed that it is AI-generated. Hence, the claim made in the viral post is FALSE.

A closer look at the viral video reveals several inconsistencies. The movements of both the gorilla and the woman appear unnatural, and at one point, their hands seem unnaturally intertwined as the gorilla hands over the baby. Such visual anomalies are commonly seen in AI-generated content (here and here). These signs strongly suggest that the video was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

To find the origin of the video, we performed a reverse image search on Google, which led us to the original version. The viral video was uploaded on 29 June 2025 to the YouTube channel ‘AI-Videos-Arg‘ with the title “Zoo Gorilla Gives Baby Back To Mother.” The video description clearly mentions that it was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a Google AI label (archived). Additionally, the channel’s about section confirms that the videos published on the platform are AI-generated. Several other AI-generated videos can also be found on the same channel (here and here).

To verify whether the video was AI-generated, we ran it through the deepfake detection tool ‘Hive’. The analysis showed a 99.4% likelihood that the video is AI-generated, confirming that it is not a real incident.

To sum up, the video showing a gorilla handing over a child to a mother is AI-generated and not real.
