The suicide incident in the video didn’t take place at the Secunderabad Railway Station

A video of a man standing atop a train on the platform and getting electrocuted when he tried to touch a high tension wire is being shared widely on social media claiming that the incident had taken place at the Secunderabad railway station. Let’s try to check the authenticity of the claim.

Claim: Video of a man electrocuted at the Secunderabad Railway Station (Telangana).

Fact: The video shows a man committing suicide by electrocution at the Malda Town Railway Station, West Bengal. So, the claim is FALSE.   

In the video, the man seemed to be deliberately touching the high tension wire. So, when searched on Google with keywords ‘Man committing suicide by electrocution at a railway station’, many search results were obtained. Among them, the search result of a news website ‘Hood site’ had the same video in its article. From the article, it was found that a man named ‘Binod Bhuiyan’ had committed suicide by electrocution at the Malda Town Railway Station in West Bengal. With this information, when searched for more news reports, an article of the ‘Patrika’ was found. The information from the article corroborated that the suicide incident in the video had taken place at the Malda Town railway station in West Bengal. 

To conclude, the suicide incident in the video didn’t take place at the Secunderabad Railway Station. It occurred at the Malda Town railway station in West Bengal.
